Lillian Harper Collection
Scope and Contents
This collections consists of a scrapbook with photographs, newsletters and articles about Lillian Harper and her years of service. There are also two photographs of the country singer George Jones. In addition to the scrapbook, there is a sample of Swift fabric showing things that should be avoided when spinning fabric, 2 hand tools for weavers, and a comb in a leather holder, made in England.

Biographical / Historical
Lillian (Lillie) Belle Harper began working in 1925 at the Swift Manufacturing Company Weaving Mill # 2 in Columbus, Georgia, making $5.45 per week. From this, 10 cents was deducted every day for ice. She retired in 1976, after 51 years of working in the mill.
