Scope and Contents
These materials include: city and county records; family papers; business-related materials; Civil War records; military records; biographical sketches; transportation records; records of local institutions such as The Bradley Theater, Fort Benning, Historic Columbus Foundation; various textile mills; and notable local people such as poet and physician Francis Orray Ticknor, Tom Darby, the Benning Family, the Boykin Family, a riverboat pilot named Will Carpenter, and others. Most of the photographs were separated from the collection and placed in the Photograph/Slide Collection, which has its own on-line index.
