This folder and the next contain records relating to the sale of the Eagle & Phenix Mills’ Land, Plants and Inventories to the Fairforest Finishing Company, a subsidiary of Reeves Brothers. Reeves Brothers was a New York based textile company that owned mills in North Carolina and South Carolina. The selling price was $4,465,000.00 plus $261,447.66 in escrow to the Columbus Bank and Trust Company and the assumption of the brokerage commission of Courts & Co. of Atlanta in the sum of $125,000.00, payable in 180 days. The agreement was signed on July 23, 1947 and the closing was held on August 6, 1947.
