This collection contains materials, photographs, clippings, articles, photocopies of various items, amassed by Roger Harris when he prepared his book, Our Town. It includes significant information about local African-American history and data about the following: John Amos, Barker House, Mrs. Kitchen's dance class, Reverend Edwin Bryson, Mattie Page, Dr. Walter Sullivan, Thomas Wiggins, Blind Tom, Geneva Southall, Mrs. John Bethune Melby, Jr., Eugene Bullard, Jimmy Carter, and George Washington Carver.
