This collection was formed by Dr. Thomas Y. Whitley, who was the president of Columbus College and the head of the commission which planned the consolidation of the Columbus, Georgia city and the Muscogee County governments. It includes the proposal for consolidation, various drafts of the Consolidated Government charter, minutes of meetings, newspaper clippings, correspondence and other Commission records. This collection contains a detailed look at how a major governmental reorganization occurred through the efforts of a wide variety of interested parties.
