Biography

Bradley was the executor of the will of his brother-in-law, James Thornton. J.T. (as he was known) Nuckolls was the ninth child and third son of Nathaniel and Louisiana Nuckolls. He was born in Oswichee, in Russell County, Alabama where he also died. He married Emma Jemima Bradley (1846-1924) in 1869, also in Russell County. Emma was the oldest child of Forbes Bradley and Theresa Clark Bradley and sister and sister-in-law to Alice Bradley (who married Thomas Jeremiah Nuckolls, Sr.) and sister to W. C. Bradley. James and Emma had two sons, Forbes Bradley Nuckolls (1869-1943), and James T. Nuckolls.

James Thornton was born November 24, 1843 and died October 13, 1910. He is buried in Linwood Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia.

Scope and Contents

The Bradley Papers were found when the records of the Eagle & Phenix Mills (MC 13) were being re-processed as a result of the move of the CSU archives around 2015. The re-processing of the Eagle & Phenix Mills was begun by Jesse Chariton. During his work on the corporate records, he identified the Bradley papers. His work was completed by Tom Converse in 2023.
